Analysis Report: Samsung Electronics' Special Encouragement for Middle East Staff and Introduction of Emergency Management

Market Summary and Analysis

Geopolitical risk in the Middle East is reaching its peak due to the conflict between Israel and Iran. Amid this, at the suggestion of Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong,

special gifts worth about 5,000,000 won were given to some 500 employees and their families who remain on site in the Middle East, including the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Employees can choose either a Galaxy Book6 Pro or a set of the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S11, and their families are given Onnuri gift certificates.

A Two-Track Strategy of On-Site Management and Crisis Management

Samsung's move is interpreted as going beyond simple encouragement, signaling a strong commitment to pushing ahead steadily with key future growth businesses in the Middle East, such as AI data centers and energy plants.

In the high-risk areas of Iran, Iraq and Israel, it preemptively withdrew all personnel, demonstrating thorough crisis management capabilities.

At the same time, in Korea, it has entered a high-intensity cost-cutting mode to cope with high oil prices, including joining a 10-day vehicle rotation system at all worksites and turning off 50% of the lights in non-work areas.

Implications for Investors

Investors should pay attention to Samsung Electronics' global risk management capabilities and its order momentum from the Middle East.

Even in difficult conditions, the company is maintaining major IT and infrastructure projects and solidifying its partnerships, so there is a high possibility that this will lead to large additional orders once the situation in the Middle East stabilizes.

However, since the energy emergency management driven by high oil prices is a company-wide cost-control signal, a strategy of also checking whether short-term earnings can be defended and how macroeconomic indicators change is needed.
